Introducing From Data to Dialogue: The Role of Storytelling in Knowledge Translation — an exciting afternoon symposium exploring the many ways that crafting compelling scientific stories can help researchers reach the right audiences with their work. This event is led by the Douglas Research Centre, under the leadership of Dr. Nicolas Cermakian as part of the Knowledge Translation Pillar of the Tremplin Consortium.

Objectives:

Explore foundational knowledge around storytelling frameworks and their applied use in knowledge translation activities
Use real-world examples of scientific storytelling, through diverse media, to spark inspiration and collaboration
Offer practical advice to researchers interested in developing and enhancing their knowledge translation work through stories

The symposium will include:

Keynote Presentation and Activity: Crafting Science Stories
Led by Renira Narrandes, MA, MSc(OT), MPH — a knowledge translation expert, storyteller, and spoken word artist with a clinical and research background, who uses her unique blend of passion, skill, and expertise to lead storytelling workshops across Canada.
Panel Discussion: Storytelling in Action!
A guided conversation with three science communicators who use art, technology, and personal narratives to tell science stories that make an impact.
Q&A: Funding Opportunities
An interactive session sharing tips and tricks for finding and securing funding for knowledge translation projects.
Story Spotlight and 5 à 7 Networking Session
A poster-style session giving researchers the chance to present, collaborate, and receive feedback on their knowledge translation work.
